Trusted Charging Alliance (TCA)

Code of Conduct

Preamble:

The Trusted Charging Alliance (TCA) is committed to fostering trust, quality, and safety in the electronic industry, specifically focusing on charging technologies across Europe. As an alliance dedicated to upholding the highest standards, the following code of conduct outlines the principles and commitments that member companies shall adhere to:

1. Compliance with EU Laws and Regulations:

All member companies of the Trusted Charging Alliance must adhere to the laws, standards, and regulations set forth by the European Union. Compliance with EU directives related to electronic products, consumer rights, environmental regulations, and other applicable laws is mandatory. Members must adhere to the EU’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and other relevant data protection laws. Companies must ensure that consumer data is dealt with the highest level of security, transparency, and respect for privacy.

2. Product Quality and Safety:

Members shall prioritize the design, manufacturing, and distribution of high-quality charging solutions that meet or exceed industry standards. Products must undergo rigorous quality checks and safety assessments to ensure reliability, durability, and user safety.

3. Transparency and Accountability:

Accurate and clear information regarding product specifications, compatibility, and safety measures should be provided to consumers. Companies must take responsibility for their products' performance and rectify any issues promptly.

4. Collaboration and Innovation:

Encourage collaborative efforts among members to foster innovation in charging technology. Sharing knowledge, research, and best practices within the alliance will drive advancements in the industry, benefiting both companies and consumers.

5. Trust and Ethical Business Practices:

Promote an environment of trust and ethical conduct in all business dealings. Fair competition, integrity in marketing and advertising, and respect for intellectual property rights are fundamental principles of the alliance. Members should adapt their products and services to meet the specific needs and regulations of different EU regions, ensuring that their offerings consider local market conditions and customer preferences.

6. Environmental Responsibility:

Member companies should strive to minimize the environmental impact of their products and operations. This includes adopting sustainable practices in manufacturing, reducing electronic waste, and supporting eco-friendly initiatives wherever possible.

7. Consumer Education and Support:

Encourage initiatives to educate consumers about the importance of using quality charging solutions and how to identify reliable products. Provide adequate support to consumers in understanding the compatibility, usage, and safety considerations of charging technologies.

8. Continuous Improvement:

Regularly review and update standards to align with technological advancements, regulatory changes, and evolving consumer needs. Commit to continuous improvement in all aspects of the alliance's operations.

9. Non-Discrimination:

Respect diversity and promote an inclusive environment within the alliance. Member companies must not discriminate based on race, gender, ethnicity, religion, disability, sexual orientation, or any other protected characteristic. Members shall commit to upholding human rights in all areas of their business and reject any form of corruption, bribery, or unethical practices. They must ensure that all business relationships, including with suppliers, contractors, and distributors, reflect these same values.

10. Dispute Resolution:

Establish a mechanism for resolving disputes among members in a fair, efficient, and impartial manner, encouraging dialogue and mediation to address conflicts or concerns.

11. Ethical Manufacturing Practices:

Member companies shall ensure that their manufacturing processes adhere to the highest ethical standards, including fair labour practices, humane working conditions, and respect for workers' rights, setting a benchmark for global practices.

12. Regional Sourcing and Production:

Encourage sourcing materials and manufacturing within the EU whenever possible, to support local economies, maintain control over quality, and ensure adherence to EU standards throughout the supply chain. The supply chain to the end product should be higher than 50 % from EU Sources. Initiate consumer education campaigns to raise awareness about the benefits of high-quality EU-made products and the risks associated with lower-quality, non-EU alternatives.

13. Certification and Quality Labelling:

Implement a certification and labelling system to clearly identify and distinguish TCA-compliant products, helping consumers recognize high-quality, reliable products made to EU standards.

14. Commitment to Research and Development:

Member companies should commit to investing in research and development to drive innovation, improve product quality, and maintain competitiveness in the global market.

15. Anti-Counterfeiting Measures:

Adopt advanced anti-counterfeiting technologies such as holograms, QR codes, or blockchain to protect the integrity of TCA-certified products and ensure authenticity for consumers.

16. Comprehensive After-Sales Support:

Provide extensive after-sales services, including warranties, technical support, and customer service, to build consumer trust and ensure long-term satisfaction with TCA products.

17. Local Environmental and Social Responsibility:

Demonstrate commitment to environmental and social responsibility by engaging in local community initiatives, reducing carbon footprints, and promoting sustainable practices in all operations.

18. Advocacy for Fair Trade:

Actively participate in advocacy efforts with EU regulatory bodies to promote fair trade policies, discourage dumping practices, and ensure a level playing field for all market participants.

By becoming a member of the Trusted Charging Alliance, companies acknowledge and commit to upholding these principles and actively contribute to the alliance's mission of ensuring trust and quality in the electronic industry, particularly in charging technologies across Europe.
